Have you ever done something you really love? Something you do over and over again because it is so much fun, and you don’t mind working hard at it?
Well, that’s me with reading and writing. I started writing stories in fourth grade and never looked back.
I am the author of The Sweet T Tales, illustrated chapter books for beginning readers that tell of every day life, with a twist of magic and mystery, and open young minds to new ways of looking at the world.
You’ll find my books, Finding Fuzzy: a You-Decide Tale and Sweet T and the North Wind, on Amazon. Currently I am writing my third book, which is to be published in 2016.
Here are a few more things you might like to know about me:
Learn: Earned my master’s degree in special education and helped students with learning disabilities from kindergarten to college for more than two decades.
Work: Helped students with all kinds of writing assignments when I was a writing coach at a community college. (Yep, college students write lots of papers for practically every subject, not just for English. So, keep up with those grammar and writing assignments!)
Eat: Could yum down pizza and salad, with ice cream for dessert, at every meal.
Read: All-time fave books growing up and even now: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Hunger Games, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Witch of Blackbird Pond, Sherlock Holmes, all Dr. Suess, and too many others for one short list.
Exercise: Walk a mile or two every day and swim laps when the sun shines. (Walking along the beach or quiet, woodland trail is THE best.) Nephew Randy gets a kick from watching me hula-hoop.
Snap: Love taking pictures with my iPhone and playing with photo editing apps. This passion could be in my genes since both my great and great-great grandfathers were photographers back in the day.
Dig: Enjoy getting my hands dirty to create happy, pocket-sized gardens full of color and art in our yard in Northern Carolina.
Sing: No, not a rock star! But I’ve been in choral groups all my life. Alto 1.
